Total Project Size: $13.8 M

Another project assisted by the NMTC allocation is Standing Rock Telecommunications, Inc. The 100 percent tribally owned telecom company used $10 million in loans to build 13 wireless towers to serve 2.3 million acres of tribal land spanning two counties in North and South Dakota.
This project made possible the installation of a basic communications infrastructure, which is now considered essential. Cellular communication and broadband internet access is a basic requirement for most businesses and helps the Tribe to attract new business enterprise to a remote rural area. Such capabilities have also become key in providing better health care services and better education in rural areas.
